ORTHOPAEDIC / FUNCTIONAL REHABILITATION

Get back to 100% functional Self and return to an active lifestyle.

From reoccurring discomforts to major orthopaedical challenges we help individuals bounce back to their routine with expert assistance and advanced therapeutic treatments.

Our approach goes beyond addressing pain. We provide effective therapies to facilitate your return to an active lifestyle, including competitive athletics, work, hobbies, or simply pain-free living. We seek to empower patients to overcome physical limitations while reducing healing time when possible. Our comprehensive tailor-made programs restore physical function and enhance overall wellbeing.

Exercise therapy:

Functional rehabilitation is a customised therapy designed with an objective ensuring you restore to maximum level of independence in your activities.  If you are someone who need to sit for longer durations of work pain-free or someone who want to play badminton recreationally after a shoulder injury or for an athlete to prevent injuries. Based on individual needs,  exercises are progressed over the period of 7-10 days.

Passive exercises:

Initially passive exercises are started which are done by a therapist. This is when you cannot perform the movements either due to pain or acute muscle spasm. Passive exercises are performed during the initial stage of your treatment along with electrotherapy to alleviate the pain and start movements faster.

Joint mobilisations or manual therapy:

This is a part of passive treatment performed by a certified manual therapist which helps in bringing the full joint range of motion. It is a  bone to bone movement which is present during any joint movement.

Active assisted exercises:

These exercises are done with the assistance of a therapist or other arm or machines. This is done when muscles are weak, inhibited after an injury  but need to be actively contracted  to do the movement. Stretching exercises using physiotherapeutic equipment are also done to stretch the tight/stiff muscles.

Active exercises:

These exercises are done against gravity or resistance provided by a theraband/weight cuffs/dumbbells.

Non weight bearing exercises:

These exercises are performed without the load of body weight on the affected joints/muscles. This helps in gradually loading the affected muscles/ joints without causing pain and inflammation to return.

Partial weight bearing exercises:

Once muscles are strengthened to take at least 50% of body weight, partial weight bearing exercises are started. These exercises help in loading muscles and joints using our body weight as a resistance gradually.

Weight bearing exercises:

These exercises involve our body weight as a load to the muscles/joints, such as sit to stand, squats, bird-dog, push-ups.

Functional exercises:

Based on individual needs, these exercises are customised to reach a movement specific goal. For e.g., someone with a knee pain may have difficulty to sit and stand or sit and stand up from floor. For such specific situations,  we train and plan a routine where in you are able to perform such specific movements pain free.
